The onsite team arranged to have all the necessities ready for them in their apartments such as snacks, water, all toiletry items, laundry detergent/softener, etc. All slept well in their apartments last night and enjoyed their meals. Update 9/6/17

UPDATE 9/6/2017: We have a lot of activity happening at the community this week. Our national cleanup crew is in there now with more than 40 workers scattered around cleaning. Almost all of the first-floor apartments are empty and we have already started picking up the flooring. Drywall is being replaced in all apartments and all common area spaces, which they have begun doing. Floors 2, 3 and 4 are in perfect shape. We are pushing forward to move residents back into these floors as soon as possible and we will provide that timeline shortly.

Update 9/12/17

We are making great progress as we continue our cleanup from flooding and damage caused by Hurricane Harvey at the Conservatory At Champion Forest. Here is an overview of where we stand in regards to restoring the community to full operations:
1. Work continues that will allow upper floor residents to move back into their apartments. The major projects being addressed in this effort include: elevators, fire sprinklers and kitchens. We are hopeful to have all work and inspections on these systems completed, and a temporary mobile kitchen to provide dining services set up within the next two weeks. We are hoping to have these projects completed within this time frame, however, this is not a guarantee. We will continue to keep you updated as we continue our progress.
2. We continue to make progress on the first floor, but it will take some time before we are in a position to estimate when exactly residents will be able to move back to their first-floor apartments. We appreciate your continued patience and will continue to provide updated information.
3. The community concierge desk remains staffed around the clock. This continues to allow phone calls to be received and is a good sign that we are beginning to return to normal. We ask that you continue to be patient, and that you not visit the property unless it's absolutely needed. We are continuing to employ a security service that will help ensure the safety of resident property and belongings.
4. Due to Hurricane Irma's effects on our home office, we have had some delay in updated communication and recordings regarding our updates and progress. We apologize for any inconvenience, and ask that you continue to check our community Facebook page and website: http://www.conservatoryseniorliving.com

Update 9/15/17

UPDATE 9/15/2017: We are making progress as we continue our cleanup from flooding and damage caused by Hurricane Harvey at Conservatory At Champion Forest. Here is an overview of where we stand in regards to restoring the community to full operations:

-We continue to make progress with testing the elevators and fire sprinklers. We also have ongoing air quality testing that is not yet complete. We committed to ensuring the building is completely safe before we welcome any residents home. We expect these tests to all be complete within the next 7-10 days.

- Our temporary kitchen that will enable us to provide our residents with dining service is expected to arrive at the community on 9/26, and the process of connecting it to our utilities is expected to wrap up no later than the 9/28. If all goes as planned, we could be welcoming upper floor residents back home into their apartments by September end! But I do want to caution that there is always a chance of something unexpected occurring to cause a delay (transportation of the kitchen, connection to utilities) so it could be a little later into the first few days of October before we can open the community up to residency. But we can assure you that your team at Conservatory At Champion Forest is doing all they can to bring everyone home as soon as possible!

- We do not yet have an estimated date of when the first floor will re-open, which would allow first-floor residents to return. But please rest assured that work continues toward the ultimate goal of bringing the entire first floor back into full operation. We will not consider this “Operation Complete” until all residents are returning to their apartments. When that day comes, we are going to celebrate with a large Homecoming Party!

We will continue to provide updates via the conference calls on Tuesdays and Fridays, as well as posting updates on Facebook and this web page.

If you were unable to attend the conference call we hosted on 9/15/17 please click here for the recording.

Update 9/19/17

UPDATE 9/19/17: We are making great progress as we continue our cleanup from flooding and damage caused by Hurricane Harvey at Conservatory At Champion Forest. Here is an overview of where we stand in regards to restoring the community to full operations:

  • Based on what we know at this time, we are still planning for the arrival of the mobile kitchen and the completion of tests to allow residents of the upper floor apartments to begin to move back into the community by the end of September/first of October.
  • By the time upper floor residents are permitted to move back in, the entire first area will be encapsulated, wrapped in plastic to contain the work that will be taking place to bring it back to full service. This is an important safety measure we are taking. This action has created some important updates of its own. Please note the following:
  • The encapsulating of the first-floor area will create the need for a temporary entrance. We have identified the temporary entrance, it will be located on the west side, through the west access gate, of the community, just behind the kitchen area (there is a double door entry there currently). Steps from this identified temporary entrance, so it is perfect to serve as the temporary entrance to the community until such time that we can re-establish our normal entryway and concierge desk. The temporary entrance will function in all the ways as did our normal entryway, with a desk manned 24 hours a day by a concierge, answering the phones, lifeline monitoring and receiving packages, as well as being available for any resident any time of day. We are arranging all of this now so that the temporary entrance will be operating when we are able to welcome residents to move back into their apartments.
  • Please note that just beyond the temporary entrance desk and elevator area will be a barrier to ensure proper encapsulation. This will prevent access to any other area of the first floor. Steven and his team have already identified and are setting up a temporary dining room on the 2nd floor.

  • The encapsulating of the first floor will take a length of time that is yet to be determined. During this time of encapsulation, we have been instructed by the local Postmaster that they will be unable to conduct mail service to the community. The Postmaster instructed us to provide these options to you during this time that regular mail delivery will not be available to the community: 1) Complete a mail forwarding form so to have your mail forwarded to a trusted family or friend, 2) Place a vacation hold on your mail. Both of these options provided by the postal service will only be a temporary inconvenience. To forward your mail temporarily you can do this via the post office website or fill out a forwarding form that you can receive from a post office, or for your convenience, we have a few of these forms on hand for your use as well. We recommend you take one of these two steps as soon as possible

  • We do not yet have an estimated date of when the first-floor residents will be able to move back into their apartment.

Our next update call will occur this Friday, September 22nd, at 12 noon. Call in information is as follows: Dial 1-800-501-8979, and enter this passcode: 9082948#. The conference call will be in listen-only mode.

Update 9/26/17

UPDATE 9/26/17: We are making great progress as we continue our cleanup from flooding and damage caused by Hurricane Harvey at Conservatory At Champion Forest. Here is an overview of where we stand in regards to restoring the community to full operations:

• As of today, we are very happy to begin welcoming residents back beginning this Friday (9/29). Because access to the community will be limited to the one temporary entrance located on the West side of the community, we will only have one elevator that is operational (the rest of the 1st floor will be encapsulated and off limits for the safety of all). Having everyone return at the same time could lead to exceptionally long waits for this elevator, so we ask for your cooperation in following this schedule for residents to return below (this will not eliminate the need for your patience, but it should help to lessen the wait for the elevator that if all returned at the same time). Here is the schedule for residents to return to residency in their apartment:
o Friday return – 2nd Floor residents
o Saturday return – 3rd Floor residents
o Sunday return – 4th floor residents
o Monday – Residents currently staying at Discovery Village at Castle Hills will be returning by way of charter bus
• Please note that beginning Friday morning, residents can move back in at their time of day of choosing on their assigned day (we will continue to have a 24 hour front desk concierge presence at the temporary entrance).
• If the day you are assigned above creates a hardship, please contact the concierge on our main community phone line, as we will try and work with you on a different day. But we ask that you please only ask for a day change if there is a truly a hardship with your date proposed above. We know everyone is anxious to return home, we are doing our best to make it as smooth as possible for all.

I speak on behalf of the Conservatory at Champion Forest team when I say that everyone is so happy to be having our residents begin to return—This will be the first of a few happy homecomings ahead (knowing our first-floor residents will be returning at a later date to be determined).

OUR NEXT UPDATE CALL: This Thursday, September 28th, at 12 noon CST. Call in information is as follows: Dial 1-800-501-8979, and enter this passcode: 9082948#. The conference call will be in listen-only mode.

Here is the schedule for residents to return to residency in their apartment:
